Wings? Just Falling…
Posted by Kai on May 4, 2008
Hady Mirza FC: 6
Redbacks: 1
Venue: ITE Simei
Scorer: Azam (p)
The Spiders could really use some wings just now. Too bad those things are alien to an arachnid. We faced off against a team which had Asian Idol, Hady Mirza, in it. Yes, that Hady Mirza, no other. Perhaps that explained why we were playing like a bunch of wide-eyed, teenage autograph hunters. We had more supporters than usual, but we wondered if it was for us. It was almost prophetic then that Hady got the first goal after we got our bearings totally off when dealing with a free kick.
We managed to equalize when Ridzwan earned us a penalty. This time, it was Azam’s turn to fulfill his prophecy. Having declared his interest in taking the next penalty, he hit this one with a lot of venom that the keeper failed to keep it out despite getting a hand to it. From that moment on, everything went downhill.
Fauzi’s weak throw lead to the 2nd goal and more abject defending allowed one of their players all the time in the world to place the ball beyond our keeper’s reach. It was not much different in the next half as our hosts scored three more goals to make it an emphatic victory.
In all fairness, we had our chances to get ourselves back into the game. We carved out a lot of chances, some one-on-one breakthroughs. However, we cannot seem to beat their goalkeeper, who was in outstanding form, making some point-blank saves. Our manager, Azam, tried to get another penalty by attempting a dive in the opponents penalty area, but the only thing he earned was tons of laughter all around. Way to go, boss.
In the end, it was a story of have and have-nots. They had good finishing, we didn’t.

We have strategized to cater the capacity we have in RBFC in order for everyone to able to enjoy the game every Sunday. Looking at the way we played yesterday, I realised that we came to a stalemate.
Azam and I agreed we have to make the changes to hopefully improve, or should I say the revamp our current formation to improve the way we play our football.
If any of you have any suggestion and on how to improve that we can incorporate to the changes, do thread this comment.
Whatever the changes will be, we need the support and understanding from all. The changes will be for the TEAM to further improve our Sunday soccer.

More changes? Well, it’s something that all teams in the world goes through, so we’d just have to adapt. However, there is something that I want to bring up.
I feel we are not quite moving well as a team. I notice that the defenders are usually reluctant to move up and the attackers are unwilling to move down, thus there is a huge gap in the middle of the pitch.
This defensive midfielders role is not working because somehow I think this attitude of letting go of defensive responsibilities to the DM is hurting the team. It gets very demoralizing when you try to hound your opponents off the ball when you see your fellow “attacking midfielders” strolling back to support and at the same time having your defenders screaming at you to close down the opponents. Seriously, 2 defensive mids covering 4, sometimes 5 opposing attackers. Even Mascherano and Hargreaves won’t be able to cope man!
We should really look into defending AS A TEAM. Playing 4-5-1 means we should have 9 players behind the ball during defending. That is not happening at the moment. Everyone is tired. That’s why the def mid just fizzled after Faizal left. I think he’s one of the few guys with the stamina to keep on harassing. But many hands make light work people.
In my opinion, be it 4-4-2, 4-5-1, 4-3-3, 5-3-2, heck even if it was 6-3-1, it’s not going to work if we continue limiting ourselves to our positional duties. Regardless of whatever formations we’ve put out, it’s been the same. “I’m a defender, therefore I defend. I’m a playmaker, therefore I do not need to defend. I’m a defensive mid, therefore I do not need to push up and support the attack.” Break out of the mould, and let’s truly strive to play together as a team!
Redbacks forever…
May 6, 2008 at 3:43 am
Faizal is not that fit, if he’s fit he don’t have to go thru RT (haha sorry Faizal). He just reads the game well and a willing party to move to shut, restrict and hassle the oppponent’s attacking movement not letting by pass him that easy that’s all. We lost all that once he left the field injured. No one told to limit themselve, we are to prioritise, know your role.
May 6, 2008 at 9:56 am
Nobody is told to limit themselves. I’m saying as players we ourselves take our roles to the T. We are the one who limit ourselves. Never mind. The issue here is how we improve as a team. These are the areas of concern that I can seen.
1) Defensive midfield not doing their job protecting the defense. (as it has been continuously highlighted)
2) Forward too isolated because nobody pushes up quick enough to support the attack. (Jaz’s observation that we do not attack as a team.)
3) Huge gap between defence and midfield. (very obvious on a counter-attack)
I suggest reverting back to 3-2-3-2 formation. I can’t quite remember why we ditched that formation. Someone refresh my memory please. Three stoppers with 2 defensive midfielders and 2 overlapping wingbacks. I think people like Faiz, Rizwan, Mok, Aki and Ming can be rotated in this positions throughout the match to keep themselves fresh. Push Ayyub to support Irwan and have Azhar or Jaz come into the playmaker’s role. I think Irwan can form partnership with Faiz, Aki, Ming or any other person. This formation is quite versatile and flexible.
Alternatively, I’m thinking of a 3-4-3 formation. Three stoppers, 2 midfielders (one defensive, one attacking), 2 wingbacks and three strikers. Whenever we’re attacking on one side of the field, the striker on that side will be an auxillary winger, leaving two strikers to hunt for goals. This formation is a little challenging. However, the idea is when we defend, we’ll have 3 stoppers with 2 wingbacks as left and right backs and 2 defensive mid shielding the defenders. The two wing-forwards will drop down as playmakers when the ball breaks loose. I hope you guys can imagine what I’m trying to tell you.
I’ve been using time during exams invigilation to draw up some ideas. I’ll share more when I get more inspiration. I urge everyone to contribute to this discussion. It’s to help the team move forward. Everyone’s ideas should and will be appreciated.

Theoratically, the formation of 4-5-1 played should be the best formation for us. But,practically we cannot execute. In match, the formation effectively becomes 1-3-2-2-1-1.Seriously.(I watched from the stands).Somehow,Azhar will play a sweeper role, with Abg Sani and the two full backs aligned.Just a bit upfront,Kai and Faisal will hover around center circle. Two flank players isolated by the sides.Ayyub advanced in the third half.Wan slightly higher in the third half.Every player somehow isolated in an imaginary zone.Noticed how our fullbacks rarely go past the halfway line?Noticed how our wingers rarely go below the halfway line?
As funny as this might sound,I believe we should do away with the playmaker role, and mould the midfield players into solid ball passing players.Reason being…noticed Ayyub has been splitting defences with his passes, but then again, who is at the end of the passes? No wingers or striker in our current team are good enough readers to anticipate such passes yet.And wingers are our team’s greatest enigma.Their role’s effectiveness is reduced when they have only one striker to cross to.Perhaps an effective measure is to get a straight 4 midfielders straight across the field interchanging movements.Think AC Milan’s model midfield.Gattuso,Pirlo,Ambrosini and Seedorf.Interchanging, simple and effective. All ball playing, able to attack as a midfield unit and defend as a midfield unit.No wingers. We have those players…Faiz,Wan,Azhar,Kai,Faizal,Ayyub,Mok and myself.
Strikeforce…just stick two.Currently, our lone striker is doing everything within his capability to score or provide. But if anyone noticed,he is busy chasing monkey balls around the third half. It’s not his fault. He has to.I say, stick Wan as target man.Whatever happens, rain or shine,he has to be with the opponent’s line of defence.Let a partner in Ming do the harrasing, which I noticed he has been doing very well.Wan should never waste his energy chasing the ball.Think Inzaghi.
Defence,no complains.Stick to 4.Understandably,we cannot play a flat four due to lack of reading and positional sense in the unit. But our defence has been impeccable I must say,as a unit.
Our team is easy to breakdown because our midfield wall has been too easy to penetrate. It’s suicidal to commit two defensive mid to destroy opponent’s play, when the opponent simply attacks as a unit.If they play to the wings,it’s even more catastrophic. Have a straight line midfield that attacks together in moving forward. That said, initiative is also for the four to defend together.
I do not have a specific formation,as I dare say that we have tried all formations. The limitations are the ones we put in our frame of mind.Still remember, players like Rizal playing as a striker or midfielder coming all the way down to help players like Ajis or Bob in defence.Think about it.He did not limit himself to the confines of his position. He just played his heart out to make sure the team does not concede. As funny as this may sound…I think it’s just about the desire, maybe not so much the tactics.
May 7, 2008 at 4:53 am
I think everyone has sort off theoritically put some simple game plans. Good, but we have failed to execute especially the last 2 to 3 games. Always happens after an overseas trip in Redbacks…. and I’m not sure why..
Anyway, I somewhat agree with Jaz and I also agree with Kai and of course, I agree with Capt. The problem lies with 2 elements which we fail to adhere to,
1) failing to execute a plan due to; not understanding the instructions
2) no strikeforce
Comment 1) I think we have 1/2 of our players who have gone thru proper soccer training and when we hear instructions, we already visualize the type of play the coach or Capt is trying to put up. So, problem lies with the other 1/2 of our team thinking that they understand what is suppose to be done. The only other way these other 1/2 can even begin to play is to forget all the fantastic football they watch during the weekend EPL matches and play simple footie…! i.e. receive, look up and pass. Don’t try to perform miracles like dribbling pass players. Rohaizat have always teached the young ones previously (which have grown to be effective players in our team today and have also left)… i.e. always pass the ball early and don’t try to dribble unless necessary. We’ve employed this technique for ages… 3 years I think. And this is what Capt have been trying to explain when he says “simple football”.
The other is…… never, never, never bypass the midfield unless necessary also..!
Comment 2 : When Aiman was around, we could play with any formation. I can remember on days which we even played with 9 men and still survived… haha… gone were the days. So guys, I’m asking for 1 striker right now. Either we develop one person from our current cohort or look for one outside the team. Need your comments on this.
In the next match, I’m thinking of putting up a 4-4-2 formation.
Hisyam and Jas, you be the temp managers if I’m playing. need you guys to give instructions if players look lost and need a change due to non-effectiveness and tired.
Jas, nothing personal but I think if you want to play more football till the 40s, have a good rest and take care of that knee. We need your experience tho in coaching the younger players therefore will need you to be available to take notes and spell out the good and bad pts during intervals and post mortem.
Okay, hope I’ve made sense. Do feedback.
May 7, 2008 at 6:58 am
Spot on Boss!
I’m open in bringing new players(the more the merrier), I have bunch of them in the wings. I received offers to bring in players to strenghtened our team which I occasionally turned down mainly worrying of playing time of our players and commitment of this new injection.
Boss correction, we survived with 8 players with Aiman around, that was with Mandai United game. We lost the desire as Jaz said and the willingness in Aiman.
Great passionate feedbacks guys.
May 7, 2008 at 9:54 am
wow… actually guys, all (faiz, ming and myself) have been pondering with the current formation… but we really tried to play it to the best of our abilities… however, it’s tough to really figure out what’s the real problem…
No problems, i am glad that the boss and captain ae finally thinking of making some changes.. let me just express my MOST SIMPLE possibles… (no offence to the rest!) The most basic formation 4-4-2 (which the captain doesnt believe we can play! haha)
Keeper- Sharizan OR Fauzy
Centre backs - Abang Sani, Azam OR Azhar, Abang Sani
Left back- BOB OR Faiz
Right back - Wan (ridzwan) OR Ajis
Centre Mid- Myself, Faizal OR Raizal , Azhar , Khai,JAz
(too many choices here but i reckon we can try out all the combinations)
Right Mid- Faiz OR ??? Ridzwan
Left Mid- Mok OR Ming
Strikers- Wan (IrWando) , Ming OR Myself , Khai
May 7, 2008 at 10:08 am
To explain it :
The defence will be as usual… with Azam leading it… in my opinion, Azam is best and most comfortable that… able to read the game and give instructions … Abang Sani will will the stopper… Ridzwan as a right is best because he can defend and he has a lot of speed and that helps to make up for the rest. BOB is my only choice for left back… i cant remember anyone else playing that position comfortably…. sorry…
The midfield is the main part… Centre midfielder are GENUINE centre midfielders! They HAVE TO DEFEND and ATTACK!! Which means they have to take charge of the whole midfield and make sure the left and right midfielders ALSO help out in defending! WHICH BRINGS me to the point of encouraging the full backs to move up! (Example: When BOB pushes up to support the attack, EITHER one centre midfieder or a centre back must be prepeared
to cover for him WHEN we lost the possession of the ball…) It’s ALL the team MOVEMENT! i strongly suggest we get the little white board with the magnetic tabs to be able to show to everyone how, when and where to move… BOTTOMLINE FOR MIDFIELDERS: BE THE PERFECT PLATFORM FOR DEFEND AND ALSO ATTACK)
The Strikers… We need time to develop a partnership! Throw the lone striker OUT of the window! (haha… ) Whether it’s IRWANDO and MING or AZHAR and AYYUB or FAIZ and KHAI or WHATEVER!!! WE NEED TO HAVE A POTENT AND LETHAL STRIKEFORCE!
We have players who all can score…. pls refer to stats….
Hey GUYS, no matter what is decided, me and my fellow bro and cousin will follow it a 100%.. but i believe we do welcome some changes…
May 8, 2008 at 3:57 am
Ayyub, this is probably the starting line-up for this Sunday.
System : 4-4-2
Defenders
Sweeper : Azam
Stopper : Sani
Left-back : Bob
Right-back : Wan junior
Midfiled : Azhar and Ayyub
Left-wing : Mokh
Right-wing : Ming
Strikers : Wan senior and Faiz
Note to late comers (those who reach 15 mins before kick-off and miss the warm-up) : Will not start first even if name on the starting line-up. I’ll give the space to those who have properly warmed-up. This is to inculcate some discipline in the team and also to avoid injuries.
Wish to see this team start first. I’ll be making the neccesary changes during the game.
May 8, 2008 at 5:04 pm
Good to know that my first assumption of you being passionate was right. Yub you must understand you are interacting with some old folks here, it’s like being shouted at when I saw all those CAPS in your comment. Nice to see your frank reply thou.
May 9, 2008 at 3:04 am
Great that everyone is talking… I like that. Hope its the same on and out the field when we play and when trying to get feedback after games.
Ayyub - Noted on not being around this Sunday. No, Azhar is not trying to brush you off. He’s merely trying to understand what those caps mean. We had some issues previously when we had other players doing that also. So, just need to make sure things are on the positive side.
And Ming - We do understand how the new mill works and FYI, I wrote a thesis back in 1997 just on colours and caps and many more during my course study on Human Computer Interaction…No worries… I know you’re trying to clarify the issue. But I might take you on on a discussion on why CAPS and not lower caps… hahaha… too long lah that debate and not at this channel. I’ll just give you a clue, those old folks who started computing in the late 70s and early 90s all work with lower caps.. .so when CAPS are used, it is a form of notation which can mean anything and everything. Haiya… very difficult to explain online. Can you imagine writing a 50,000 worded thesis for just this… its a really funny discipline lah. Okay, on to the next matter.
Hey… setting something straight here to everyone. I believe all the posts are constructive. No pun has been intended and I believe its very healthy. I hope we are like this on Sundays but I also believe that in order for us to learn, we will need to understand the comments made on the net and off the net (when at the field). Use the telephone lah if more clarification is desired. I can assure you that when we do not need someone to play anymore in our team, I’ll be the one talking to that person adn explaining the reasons why. That hasn’t happened… so, play on guys.
Ming - My assumption was almost correct by the way I read what you’ve posted. And now that I know you do not understand the policy, it is our duty to respond by taking time to explain to you what it is. Explaining it online is gonna be difficult but I think best that we meet early before games and explain the concept we are trying to employ. I hope you can agree on this. I can come slightly earlier. A 15min discussion should suffice with you being able to also give your opinion.
Both Faiz and Ming have loads of energy and we have tried Ming out on many positions including backline. Now, its for us to try Faiz out and see how effective he is at the frontline. But of course, he will be the best person to relate whether he’s comfortable there or not. We have already understood what the older players can and cannot do so now give us some time to understand what the new generation is capable of. We know what Ayyub is capable of already in the last few matches. We are almost there on Faiz but Ming, yourself, we’ll need to stick you to a position and groom you, if you allow us to.
Right now, I believe you (Ming) are very comfortable at the front but unlike our previous striker, you have a slightly different style of play and therefore, we’ll need you to tell us what sort of passes you favour and how you would like it. The previous striker took about half a year to gel into the team and when he did, he was scoring goals at almost every game. Else, we will tell you how the typical passes will be made to you. We are using Wan senior to be the holding striker right now and we hope that you can partner him in doing the penetration runs. But timing from your speedy runs are crucial and therefore you’ll have to develop an understanding with Wan senior. It will take time I believe and i hope you’d give us your feedback. We hope you’d be more chatty in the sessions to come so we know how really you feel about passes and how players around you can react.
Let me share what I’m trying to ultimately do here.
1)Develop a backbone for the team, i.e. a stright centreline of players which will always be in the first-eleven. The backbone shall consist of 4 players for starters.
1 x defence
1 x stopper
1 x midfield
1 x striker
This will form the strightline from bottom to up. Then, we’ll put in the primary players playing alongside this backbone.
I’ll bring the board in the next game.
See you all there.
May 9, 2008 at 3:11 am
Ming, sorry, I missed out something. I still want you for the striker role coz I need at least about 3 up-front. You at right-wing is until we assess Faiz up-front. So Faiz the headless chicken huh…?! Lets see. Sekali he can play..?! Amacam..!?
Wan senior - During warm-up, pls pull Ming and Faiz aside and brief and remind each other the type of play.
Faiz - You up to it…? Say something lah.

Dear Redbacks brothers,
In my stint as a Redbacks player since it was initiated, with some of the guys here,we’ve seen our shares of prima donnas, disgruntled players and even players who lacked a certain amount of self respect.I’ve been one of those players too,who had always questioned formations, players’ effectiveness and abilities and so forth. But,it never really got to my emotional piece of shit head, because there were ‘veteran’ players to remind me,that there is never the letter “I” in a “TEAM”.
The comments made, showed that there is an abundance of passion and enthusiasm for the game, showed by the team’s “Y Gen”.Applause for that. And at the same time,I will like to encourage the “Y” guys to understand that the best feedback you can contribute and receive will be on the field.Comments such as one being tired coming all the way down just to lose a game is not a fair one.Let me put it by asking how you will feel,if I say that some of the senior players have highlighted, that they are just losing the kick of playing, because you “Y” players are having more playing time. And everyone travelled and paid the same dues?Think about it my young brothers.People like Capt and Sham, have always cited that we have certain limitations in the team does not allow certain formations, and that is very true.Do you think people like Rohaizat,Kai,Azhar,Azam and myself who had been involved in the game’s professional setup, does not feel the frustration and bewilderment at times? We do.But,there is a team of willing players who always remind us that, solid play will come with time. That is why,I encourage young players,to take the initiative and ask for feedbacks from your team after and during a game.I see none doing that. Start doing that, before you end up becoming just another Malay bloke self absorbed with the thought that you are freaking good in a social team.I’ve been down that road and I know what you guys may feel at times.Take your time to be humble and learn the finer aspects of the game.
And Bro Ayyub,I hope you had taken the comments with an open heart, because as a fellow generation player,I know your ability and capability to lead and examplify.Be the bloke that will lead this group.I’ve been trying for years to slot into the centre midfield berth, but am always marginalised to the flanks to accomodate the team. Now am injured, and you playing so well, the challenge has been harder.I’m challenging you to lead this crop of players and prove the worth the team has placed their trust on you.Do not be so taken in by the posts here,as I understand your passion…but prove your theories right on the field. No one will question you.(I’m not consoling you, bro…lol.A fellow team mate talk!)Lift the team up.You will not want me to be fit and screaming for your position…wahahaha.
Faiz and Ming…good energy. No doubt.I hate the way both of you run around like headless chicken, but I admire your skills and heart.Like I said,I was a worse player, your age.My advise, ask and learn.Think of yourselves as the Ronaldo and Nani of the team.Good players but not necessarily effective players. My challenge for both of you,is to lead the team in the attacking half. When you are not playing, study the flow and areas where you can make an impact. When you are playing, give your 101%.Do not worry about where you play or what formation it is.Important thing is to be on the learning curve.Do you seriously expect to play with Redbacks until 40.Be a better player,be scouted and get lost playing competitive football. That’s progress!
And manager Azam,I suggest you keep any lineup you have in mind, close to you.Unfortunately, social team players have a deficiency. You announce line up,non included players will feel marginalised and may not turn up at all.Besides, social players like us,with or without knowledge of line up,may still not understand the schematics of the formation.Wahahaha.Good effort though.Truly appreciated.Consider everyone playable, and everyone will be on their toes.My challenge to you this days,is to consider integrating and getting hibernating Redbacks into active mode.Thrust them the responsibilities on the field.Noticed people like Sharm Bai,not turning up anymore. We will need to get the enthusiasm back.
Hope it suffices. And I will just like to highlight, that each and every Redbacks is worthy of appreciation. No one leaves the comfort of a family day on Sunday or rendezvous with girlfriends,to play.Only Redbacks.
May 9, 2008 at 6:04 am
i am up for any challenge yaw!
=D
May 9, 2008 at 4:02 pm
To all my Redbacks brothers, my first line as i have always said ” I love Redbacks”. I said so coz of you all, the soccer comes second. First, sorry I did not turn up for last game coz i’m down with bad flu coupled with taking care of my 2 young kids who were down with HFMD.
Ok now. Its intersting to see the posts. There’re lots of passion involved. Good. But please let me advice you all. Redbacks has always been around about respect and friendship. I don’t care if I get to play or not, but what I do care is to come down watch you guys, laugh at your mistakes, shout out to you on the field (sometimes angry at your mistakes too) and enjoy your company. My bros like Azhar, Azam, Abang, Khai, Bhai, Jaz, Wan, Bob, Ajiz, Mokh, Raizal etc knows what Redbacks means to me and all of us. Hey bros, we are brothers.
Ok now on soccer - Remember during game, we need 1 person to take charge of the game, and now that person will be Azhar, our captain or if not Azam our manager and if not another person assigned by them. Respect their decision. Period.
Of course, during the duration of the game, they will make noise to wake us up. Its normal with Redbacks. For years its like that and we still laugh and lepak to chit chat after the game. That is Redbacks. Come on guys, this is soccer. We have won so many matches and we have lost many too. We even played in the AFL (the 1st time) and we were serious about it. But we did lost some games too (some by eight goals if tak silap) and we did talk about it seriously and at the same time joke about it too. When we won, wah happy gila and lepak luar gate tak nak balik. That is Redbacks.
But now some of us are too serious about winning. Wa takut bro. Hold on bros. Remember its good to have that winning spirit but the godly words of soccer “Its all in the game” tells us everything. Go and enjoy your game, shout out and try to win. After game, talk about it and that’s it. Relax bros.
Ok. Thats my thought.
And for the rest, I’ll be back!!!!! Wan, lu striker ah.. relak sua… wa dah training nak rampas tempat lu. Lu score 2 goal, wa score 3…. hahahahahahahahah. Lu but kuning, wa but purple…..hahahahahahahahaha.
I love Redbacks. Go Redbacks.
I dedicate this to my bros Azhar, Azam, Abang, Khai, Bhai, Jaz, Wan, Bob, Ajiz, Mokh, Raizal, Zaini and Redbacks etc.
May 9, 2008 at 4:29 pm
I love Hisham and all Manchester United Fans.Hidup Redbacks!Wahahaha.

Hidup Tan Sri Hisham.
Hey anak you dah okay??? Hope everything is alrite with ur kids man. Hope to see u active again lah.
May 9, 2008 at 10:40 pm
oh guys those CAPS are never in shouting terms…. sigh…
whys would i be shouting??? funny la u all… dun have much time to reply here… but thanks for all your replies.. i appreciate it…. i guess i still haven really let you guys understand me well enough…
i hope azam or azhar will do the explaining to the team as often as possible.. the players ( at least me and the GEN-Y (not shouting again) players) need to know what are the team trying to achieve and why are we heading there…
thats it… good luck for the next game bro…
hey guys especially azhar…
sorry alright if my feedbacks seem like an attack… but i always attack back more if people doubt my good intentions…
we really need more ‘bonding’… hehe… i am up for it.. are you guys up for it??
May 10, 2008 at 3:47 am
ok, at least we’ve settled the misunderstandings. ayyub, the feedback will come from many people especially the seniors. from time to time, they’ll pull you aside to give you a word or two. you are free to discuss with them also and ask them about your performance. but please, it works the other way around also. there’s no wrong in a younger person going to the senior to share their thoughts also.
for the bonding exercise, i’m trying to gather as many as possible to go play a game and watch Euro over a Sat weekend night in KL. maybe sometime in 3rd week of Jun.
Azhar - Just saw my travel schedule… its packed but let me see whether I can squeeze something out to put this in. I may have to be in Brunei or Indon lah that weekend so we’ll play by ear lah eh. Mana lah tahu, instead of balik to Sg, I “balik” KL to meet you guys hehehe
More info later

May 10, 2008 at 3:11 pm
Bro Khai, Jaz, Azam, Abang and all my Redback bros, tanx for your concern about my kids. They are getting better. I was down with fever too coz maybe I stayed up at night too often to jaga them. My flu really bad, man. My wife laughed at me last sunday coz I can’t get up to go soccer with you all. Body nak bangun, badan suruh baring. Lepak bro. kahkahkahkahkahkahkah. Guys tanx for your concern. Luv you all.
As for our team, may be this is just a moment or period where we slack a bit in terms of playing skills. Its ok. We learn to enjoy playing again ok. Just for the fun of it, may be 1 half, we try to switch position and play somewhere else eg: defender play midfield or striker and vice versa. Mesti kelakar pecah rabak. Baru korang tau! hahhahahahah. It will be fun. But kalau nak gitu, kita mesti purposely cari team yang weak sikit. heheheheh. Hah, boleh aku main striker pakai but purple and score more goals than Wan, hehehe kahakhakhakhakhakha.
Hah, lagi satu. Jangan kisah sangat pasal first 11. I feel we shouldn’t list out the first 11 in the web. Tak syiok ah aku tengok. Just come down and let Azhar, Azam or anyone incharge for the day to decide. They may already have plans for that particular game and we should support their decision. Maaf, itu pendapat saya kerana saya rasa clasifying our players as first 11 and others might down some spirits. Kesian. Maaf ya ini feedback saya.
Thanks again bro. LUV U REDBACKS!
May 10, 2008 at 8:41 pm
Hisham, nice to hear you and your children are well.
About playing our Sunday soccer and continuing playing Sunday soccer as long as we possibly can has been our vision. I know each and everyone’s strenght and weakness and know our capacity what our team can do and cannot do. We just need to know how to play the simple game and continue to believe in the simple game. I don’t see we be playing the advance passing game if a we can’t play it simple. If you guys understood the current formation it’s all about keeping it simple.
Most of the players that has been with team long enough knew what I’m talking about. We have been thru the routine umpteen times. Those are still pondering, I don’t see anybody asking question, I’ve always asked after the team talk of any question that anybody may have, but none came to me. I knew the senior players knew what are my strategy were. The plan has always been there but somehow in recent games I somewhat felt that I’ve failed in these areas. That’s the reason why things need to change and I seeked Azam to initiate the change. Azam’s approach may be different, but I encourage everyone to give Azam the support and and see how it goes.
It’s not easy considering the strenght and weakness we have in RBFC, but it’s about enjoying our Sunday and keeping fit with the game we love most. I always have this policy of respecting the leader and his direction and ask if I don’t understand the direction given. I’ve given that to our previous manager and I will do the same to the current manager. I know most of the players RBFC have that too. Respect is the main ingredient that we have in RBFC that allowed us to be together this long.
All in the game.
